I’m posting this here and unlocked because I need to get it out in the world but want it behind a cut, which I can’t reliably do on tumblr on mobile. So, uh. Here’s some thoughts about family and being the rainbow sheep of the family and not trusting my extended family. And some thoughts about my father, who is not a good person.

reading and ephemera

Last year I set my Goodreads challenge to sixty books, which felt very small to me but was apparently very large to most people I talk to. I read sixty-one books to completion and a variety of others that I didn't finish fully, for whatever reasons I had at the time.

This year, I didn't set a reading challenge. I know it's only January and I could set one later, and I very well might. But I didn't set one at the beginning of the year, because reading was making me really, really sad, and I only realized why yesterday in my therapy session.

Merry Christmas!

A very merry Christmas to everyone celebrating, and happy Tuesday if you'd rather not!

I've had a wonderful day with my girlfriend and her family - lots of laughter and gifts, and soon to be lots of food when the rest of the family comes over. What are you all doing to celebrate?

I gave my girlfriend a Mollymauk-themed lowball glass I found on Etsy and a GBBO cookbook, and she loved both. My brother sent me Uncharted 4: The Lost Legacy and Dragon Age: Knight Errant, and I got a mildly ridiculous amount of gifts from my girlfriend's parents (including pajamas with books on them!), so I'm feeling extremely happy and loved today. Did anyone else get anything exciting or give something exciting?
