It's so hard to post from my phone, but I've been lurking and reading stuff, just...not posting. But I deleted the tumblr app off my phone and blocked twitter, to try and get myself to spend time on more stuff that I actually want to be doing. And I've been wanting to use my laptop more anyways, rather than using my phone for everything, because I find it much easier and happier and just...better.

Anyways. It's been a lot. I hope everyone is safe and doing as well as they can be.

  • Work, fortunately or unfortunately depending on the minute. I am...not pleased with my boss right now. He promoted me at the beginning of the year and then told me I'd be doing more managerial work with our new people, so now despite all my saying "I don't really want to do managerial work, I don't like it and I'm not cut out for it," he is reluctant to really think about changing it. It kind of came to a head on Friday when he basically told me to come up with new projects for our newbies, when that is literally his job. So we'll see what happens there.
  • Working on a mashup of sorts of D&D and Dragon Age, which my friends that I'll be running it for and I have been calling Dungeons and Dragon Age. I know there's a DATTRPG, but I don't want to ask my group to learn a whole new system, and I don't really want to learn how to GM a whole new system. So instead I'm reworking some D&D classes to fit DA subclasses - some just need some wording changes, others some more effort. Right now I'm working on Keeper, which is a more-heavily-than-others reflavored Circle of the Land druid with Wild Shape replaced with some other stuff.
  • Listening to the podcast Love and Luck! It's about the world's doofiest queer dude couple and the queer dry bar they run in Melbourne, Australia. It's absolutely amazing, very sweet and fluffy most of the time. It also deals with some incredibly hard topics, but the cast of characters cares so deeply about one another, and I love them all.
  • Studying with my rabbi! She's great, very smart and very keen on helping me figure out how I think and how I could fit into this synagogue/Judaism in general/have it fit me.
  • Relatedly - relearning Hebrew! I took a semester of it in college in preparation of studying abroad in Israel, but that ended up not happening for mental health reasons, and I'd forgotten a lot of it since then. My synagogue is running an adult Hebrew-learning prayer class, so I've been learning to read some of the prayers we sing every week.
