Hi there! I'm Cath (or echoes). I'm in my 30s, use she/her pronouns, and live on the West Coast of the US. I'm Jewish, white, queer, hovering somewhere between abled and disabled physically, and neurodivergent. Relatedly, I sometimes have trouble making sure the words I use actually mean what I'm trying to say. If you're confused about something I've said or think I might be trying to say something else, please ask!

I work for a university library (I'm not a librarian, I'm library staff) and I love it, though it does have its challenges. I also teach Hebrew school (first grade Judaic studies, fifth grade beginning Hebrew). Work stuff may come up here from time to time, but hopefully not in a bad way.

I love fandom, but I'm trying to remind myself how much I love that's outside of the realm of fandom! So we'll start with that.

I read a lot in non-fandom ways as well as fandom ones - nonfiction books (though not as often as fiction), Jewish resources, and so on. I studied linguistics in school, and I still love reading linguistics books and both academic and pop linguistics articles. Talk to me about your academic interests! Ask me questions about Judaism! Let's learn something together!

I also knit, and my favorite thing to knit is stuffed animals (yes, I know crochet tends to be easier for stuffed animals, but it hasn't worked as well for my brain). I'm not great at sticking with projects long term, but I'm working on it. My partner and I also love puzzles of various kinds, from jigsaw puzzles to logic puzzles to lateral thinking riddles, and I'm trying to do more with those. Additionally, I love music, and am intermittently teaching myself to play piano!

I've been in fandom for a long time - when I was 11, I lied about my age to get an ff.net account (and then promptly told my mom I had done so, whoops). I love to read (often fantasy, science fiction, and mysteries, and recently almost entirely queer) and play video games (generally RPGs), and I've been known to have quite a few TV show fandoms as well. I've never been as into movies, but there's some good ones out there.

I do/have done a bunch of different creative things for fandom. I primarily write fic, which can be found at my AO3 where I am also earlymorningechoes, but I’ve also made edits, gifs, fanvids, fanmixes, and occasionally fanart (which I am very bad at, but that’s not the point).

My major, always-around fandoms are the Wayfarers book series by Becky Chambers, the Dragon Age video games, the TV show Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries, and the Emelan books by Tamora Pierce. Other frequently-present fandoms include Mass Effect, Legend of Zelda, the Xandri Corelel books by Kaia Sønderby, Stargate, and more!

I'm always down for suggestions of new things to read, watch, or play!

Subscribe away! Unless you know me and know there's a reason I wouldn't want you subscribed, then please respect that. I'm used to tumblr, so I'm basically okay with people being here if they think they're interested in what I have to say.

I'm still working out how I'm using the access list and locked posts, but locked posts will most likely be about heavy personal things, such as mental health, work, or family issues, or other things I'd like to have more of a handle on who sees. If we're friends from somewhere else, let me know and I'll probably give you access. If you'd like to become friends, I'm totally down, and I will likely give access after I have at least a sense of what you're like.

Comment away as well - anonymous comments are allowed, but with IP addresses logged. IP addresses are not logged for logged-in comments. Please be respectful, both of me and of other commenters. Feel free to introduce yourself on this post, if you like!
